Wisdom Teeth Removal
Wisdom teeth can be problematic for many patients and may need to be removed to prevent pain, decay, swelling and damage to other teeth.
Our team is expert in the extraction of wisdom teeth. In fact, we’ve removed more than 4,000 wisdom teeth across our practices.
Need to know:
We offer a range of highly effective sedation solutions to ensure your experience is as comfortable as possible. You will feel at ease in the hands of our incredible team of dentists from the moment you arrive at your appointment.
Duration: Wisdom tooth extraction takes approximately 45 minutes to one hour, however this varies depending on the number of teeth that need to be extracted and your individual needs.
Most people have four wisdom teeth, which develop behind the second molars. It can be beneficial to have some, or all wisdom teeth removed – however it depends on the arrangement of your teeth and how they are positioned.
We will work with you to determine the best approach, including how many wisdom teeth will need to be extracted.
One of our most frequently asked questions is if the wisdom teeth removal procedure is painful. If you are concerned about pain during wisdom tooth extraction, we offer a range of highly effective sedation methods to ensure you feel comfortable and relaxed during the extraction process.
We’re expertly trained to undertake complex surgical extractions while minimising risks and complications that may occur.
Upper wisdom teeth are generally easier to remove, as they’re located in softer upper-jaw tissue. Lower wisdom teeth require a little more time, as the bone is denser.
The wisdom teeth recovery time varies, and you will need to consume soft, easy to chew food initially. We will provide a full aftercare guide; however, between 2-6 weeks for the area around the wisdom tooth extraction to close up and heal.

The benefits of dental fillings
Getting a dental filling may seem like a small procedure, but it plays a big role in protecting your long-term oral health. At Dental Lounge, we use high-quality composite and ceramic fillings to restore your tooth’s strength, appearance and function with precision and care.
With dental fillings, you can preserve your natural teeth and maintain a healthy, functional smile by:
- Stopping the spread of decay — Fillings remove and seal off damaged areas, preventing cavities from worsening.
- Strengthening tooth structure — By filling weakened areas, they help reinforce and protect your natural tooth.
- Restoring natural appearance and function — Modern composite fillings blend seamlessly and allow you to bite, chew and speak as usual.
- Prevent more invasive treatments — Early intervention with a filling can help you avoid root canal therapy or tooth loss down the line.
Signs you may need a dental filling
Not all cavities are visible or painful at first — which is why it’s important to know the signs that you may need a dental filling. Acting early can help prevent small issues from turning into larger, more complex dental restorations. Here are some common symptoms to look out for:
- Sensitivity to hot or cold drinks
- Visible holes, small pits and groves or dark spots and discolouration
- Toothache or discomfort when chewing
- Cracked or chipped teeth
If you’re experiencing any of these symptoms, we recommend booking a consultation to prevent further damage and avoid more involved treatments like crowns or root canals.
Ceramic vs composite fillings
Both ceramic and composite fillings are excellent options, but they serve different needs. Here’s a quick breakdown to help you understand the difference:
- Aesthetics — Composite fillings are tooth-coloured and blend well with natural teeth. On the other hand, ceramic fillings are highly lifelike and best for a seamless, enamel-like finish.
- Durability — While all expertly placed fillings should last several years, ceramic fillings have a longer lifespan, lasting up to 20 years or more.
- Cost — Composite fillings are generally more affordable up front, but may require more upkeep and replacements compared to ceramic ones.
- Recommended use — Composite fillings are ideal for small to medium cavities, while many dentists may recommend ceramic fillings for larger restorations or replacing old, cracked fillings.
What to expect after a filling
After your dental filling appointment at Dental Lounge, you’ll be able to return to your day with minimal interruption. Here’s what you can typically expect during recovery:
- Eating after your filling — If you received a composite filling, you can usually eat once the numbness wears off (typically within 1 to 2 hours). For ceramic fillings, your dentist will advise if extra caution is needed.
- Mild sensitivity is normal — It’s common to feel temporary sensitivity to temperature or pressure, especially when chewing. This usually resolves within a few days to a week.
- Know when to call — If you experience persistent pain, discomfort when biting down or the filling feels too high, contact us for a consultation and to schedule an adjustment.
- Caring for your filling long-term — Good oral hygiene is key. Brush and floss daily, avoid biting hard objects like ice or pens, and see your dentist regularly to maintain the health of your teeth fillings.

Wisdom teeth removal Sydney
Wisdom teeth are the third molars and are usually the last four to emerge. This often happens between 16 and 25 years of age, although this may vary for some people.
Do wisdom teeth have to be removed?
Typically in the teens, dentists begin monitoring wisdom teeth to determine if they are emerging well or are likely to cause problems in the future. With the help of X-rays, they can identify if the molars have partially erupted or if they are impacted under the gums. They also evaluate the shape of the mouth and the position of teeth. If needed, they will determine if one, two or all wisdom teeth need to be extracted or if there will be no problem.
Tooth extraction healing time
Wisdom tooth extraction is a complex dental procedure and will be symptomatic for some time. Wisdom teeth removal recovery can take up to 10 weeks, and up to 80% of the healing occurs in the first ten days.
Wisdom teeth removal cost Sydney
The cost of wisdom teeth removal depends on the complexity of the procedure, the number of teeth to be extracted and your dental needs. Book your complimentary consultation to discuss your dental concerns.

About root canal treatment
Root canal Sydney
Root canal treatment, also known as endodontic (endo- “inside”, odont- “tooth”) treatment, is a procedure where the dentist removes an infected or dead nerve tissue in a tooth to treat an abscess. Root canal therapy not only gets you out of pain but also keeps you out of pain.
The dental pulp is the soft centre of the tooth that contains nerves and blood vessels. It is a connective tissue that extends to the bottom of the tooth through the canals and is responsible for regulating the growth and development of the tooth during childhood. Also, it is responsible for providing oxygen, nutrients, dentin formation and sensory function. When the tooth is fully formed, nutrition comes from the surrounding jaw bone and associated tissues.
Root canal pain symptoms
This dental pulp can be damaged or dead. Depending on the cause, the damage to the pulp can be so severe that the nerve will gradually die. There are several reasons for this: untreated decay, trauma, bruxism, cracked tooth, or irritation. Usually, people experience severe pain when biting and chewing, sensitivity to cold and heat, darkening of the tooth, swollen and tender gums, facial swelling, or loose teeth. Other people may have damaged or dead pulp and have no root canal symptoms. If this is your case, dentists may discover that you need root canal therapy from X-rays or if the gum is swelling near the affected tooth. Hence, the importance of regular visits to the dentist.
How much does a root canal cost?
Root canal therapy cost varies, depending on the number of canals to be treated and if you need a crown. Book your complimentary consultation to discuss your dental needs.
