Dental crowns
We’re proud to offer same-day porcelain crowns, thanks to the expertise of our dentists and state-of-the-art technology. The first of its kind in Sydney, this is the result of Dr Gamer Verdian’s vision to streamline and elevate the process of crowns.
Need to know:
Porcelain crowns are a highly aesthetic and durable type of ceramic that beautifully imitates the lustre, texture and appearance of a natural tooth. Zirconia is another excellent material we have available, with similarly long-lasting and aesthetic qualities.
We do not use any crowns with internal metal frameworks, which creates a seamless result that won’t show discolouration at the gumline.
Duration: A single appointment lasts from 1 to 2 hours, depending on unique requirements. If a crown has to be made off-site, two appointments of approximately 1 hour each will be required.
Thanks to our state-of-the-art technology and the expertise of our practitioners, your crowns experience at Dental Lounge is the first of its kind in Sydney.
As with all our treatments, your dentist will work closely with you to determine the best solution for your dental concerns. In most cases, E-MAX ceramic dental crowns are the most suitable. In some cases where more cosmetic intervention is needed, for front teeth, gold and partial metal crowns, an even more bespoke approach is needed.
Usually, dental crowns procedures require two appointments, two weeks apart, with temporary crowns fitted in the interim. During your 1-to-2-hour appointment, your crowns will be measured, created and fitted. All you need to do is sit back and relax with a good book or watch your favourite Netflix series in between.
There are only a few special circumstances where it may be best to opt for a two-visit crown.
Crowns should be a painless procedure, and we use a computer-controlled anaesthetic, which detects tissue pressure with precision. It slowly releases a numbing solution and avoids the painful sting of injections and numb lips.
We also have other anaesthetic options available to suit your needs and make your appointment more comfortable. If you’re anxious about getting a dental crown procedure, we have sleep dentistry options for a stress-free experience.

About dental crowns
Dental crowns Sydney
Dental crowns, also known as dental caps, are a restorative treatment where a custom-made ‘cap’ is placed over the existing tooth to protect and restore a tooth when it is damaged or chipped or has had root canal therapy treated on it. It also helps to prevent a structurally compromisedstructurally-compromised tooth from breaking. The dental crown procedure will repair the shape, function and overall appearance of the tooth in the long term.
What are the benefits of dental crowns?
Here’s how patients benefit from dental crown procedures at Dental Lounge:
- Restores strength and function
- Natural aesthetics
- Durability and longevity
- Same-day convenience
- Protection for treated teeth
- Minimally invasive
What are the alternatives for a dental crown?
If there is no extensive damage to the tooth or if you have a tooth that is discoloured, your dentist may recommend a cosmetic veneer instead of a dental crown. If the tooth is chipped and there’s enough natural tooth left, you may get a filling instead. However, if left untreated, you may experience more severe dental problems, such as an infection that reaches the nerve, and you may need root canal therapy or even an extraction.
Same-day dental crowns — get your crown in just one visit
Traditional dental crown procedures require multiple visits, but we offer same-day dental crowns in Sydney with our cutting-edge technology. We can create and place a porcelain crown in as little as two hours using advanced digital imaging and in-house milling. This benefits patients in many ways, including:

FAQs
A dental crown — alternatively known as a dental cap — is a custom-made restoration that covers a damaged, weakened or cosmetically imperfect tooth. A dental crown procedure restores the tooth’s shape, size, strength and function while improving its appearance. They can be made of different materials, but porcelain crowns are among the most popular options due to their natural look and durability.
You may need or want a dental crown procedure for several reasons, including:
- Protecting a tooth after root canal therapy to prevent fractures.
- Restoring a severely worn, cracked or broken tooth.
- Covering and strengthening a tooth with a large filling when not enough natural structure remains.
- Enhancing the appearance of discoloured or misshapen teeth.
- Anchoring a dental bridge in place.
A dental crown procedure typically involves the following steps at Dental Lounge:
- Consultation and preparation — One of our dentists examines your tooth, and prepares it by reshaping the enamel to ensure a proper fit.
- Digital scanning and crown design — We use advanced imaging technology to create a precise model of your tooth.
- Crown fabrication — With same-day dental crowns, your ceramic dental crown is custom-milled on-site and placed in a single visit. If an off-site lab is required, a temporary crown will be fitted while your permanent crown is made.
- Crown placement — The crown restoration is securely bonded to your tooth, restoring its function and aesthetics.
At Dental Lounge, we offer high-quality ceramic dental crowns made from porcelain (E-MAX) and zirconia, both known for their strength, durability and natural appearance. We do not use crowns with internal metal frameworks, ensuring a seamless and aesthetic result.
A well-maintained dental crown can last 10 to 15 years or more, depending on many factors — the most significant of which are your oral hygiene, diet and daily habits. At Dental Lounge, we offer porcelain crowns that are durable and resistant to staining.
The cost of a dental crown in Australia varies depending on factors such as the material used, the complexity of the procedure and whether additional treatments are needed beforehand.

No, dental crown procedures are typically painless. At Dental Lounge, we use computer-controlled anaesthesia to ensure a comfortable experience. However, it’s common for some patients to experience mild sensitivity after the procedure. Rest assured, this is usually temporary and manageable with over-the-counter pain relief.
Follow these care tips to care for and extend the lifespan of your dental crown:
- Brush and floss daily, paying extra attention to the gumline.
- Avoid biting on very hard foods or objects, such as ice.
- Wear a mouthguard if you grind your teeth at night.
- Visit your dentist for regular check-ups and professional cleanings.
Yes, dental crowns can be replaced. We recommend crown restorations when they become worn, chipped or loose over time. If your crown has reached the end of its lifespan or is no longer functioning properly, your dentist will assess whether a replacement is necessary.
With same-day dental crowns, the entire process can be completed in one visit within 1 to 2 hours. However, if a crown needs to be fabricated off-site, two appointments are required — one for preparation and a second for crown placement (usually two weeks apart).
Not always. A root canal is only required if the tooth has severe decay, infection, or nerve damage. In many cases, a dental crown procedure is performed without needing a root canal. If the tooth is compromised, your dentist may recommend root canal therapy before placing the crown to ensure long-term success.
